 Haiti Adoption Program 
HAITIAN ADOPTION PROGRAM IS ON HOLD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE FROM THE HAITIAN GOVERNMENT.

REQUIREMENTS:

 

* Under Haitian law, at least one prospective adoptive parent must be 35 or older.  For married  couples, one prospective adoptive parent may be under age 35, provided the couple has been married for 10 years and has no biological children. 

 

* Applicants who are between the ages 45 - 50 must be willing to accept a toddler .

 

* Childless, single women who are living alone and between the ages of 35-50, are also eligible to adopt .

 

TIME FRAME:

 

* Families should plan on a waiting period of 12 - 14 months for a referral of an infant girl or 5 - 7 months for the referral of an infant boy or child over age 2 after submitting their dossier to Loving Stork.

 

THE CHILDREN:

 

* Children usually range in ages between 18 - 24 months upon arrival in the U.S

 

HAITIAN DOCUMENTARY REQUIREMENTS:

 

Prospective adoptive parents or their attorney should be prepared to present the following documents to the Haitian courts and/or the IBESR:

 

1. the birth certificates of the adoptive parents

2.  the childʼs birth certificate

3. the marriage certificate of the adoptive parents

4 .If the biological parents of the child are deceased, their death certificates.

5. tax returns and police clearances from the prospective parents

6. Medical and psychological reports for the adopting parents and child

7. A statement from the prospective adoptive parents that they plan to adopt a child in Haiti.

8. Three identity photos of each of the prospective adoptive parents

9. An original notarized power of attorney designating whoever may act on the parentsʼ behalf in Haiti (if applicable; a fax copy is not sufficient);

10. A homestudy report from the adoptive parentʼs U.S. state of residence indicating that they are authorized to adopt a child.

11. Job letters.

12. Notarized bank account documents and copies of deeds and mortgages (prospective adoptive parents should forward the Form I-864 Affidavit of Support with the requisite attachments

13. Medical examination reports for both prospective adoptive parents.

14. Two letters of reference.
